If you want to celebrate an anniversary or birthday in romantic accommodations, I highly recommend visiting Red Wing, MN.

Start your weekend with a stay at the Golden Lantern Bed and Breakfast. Located in the heart of Red Wing, it is the former home of the president of Red Wing Shoes. The home is beautiful, interesting rooms and gorgeous woodwork throughout the house. Breakfast was great!

Take advantage of their Heavenly tour, you spend 30 minutes on a private plane ride enjoying the unbelievable views of the Mississippi river area, plus Lake Pepin. Very romantic to be flying high above the world.

Stop at the Harbor Bar and Inn on your way back to the Golden Lantern for some fun, Jamaican themed cocktails. In the summer you can sit outside on the river and watch the boats go by.

Follow that up with dinner at Norton's...great food, excellent wine list and affordable prices.
